St.
John’s – St Andrew’s Weekly Newsletter
Feb 1, 2012
Dear
St. John’s
– St. Andrew’s Parents,
Thank
you to all parents and students present at our All School
Catholic Schools Week
Kick-off
Mass.
We had 45/60
students there and they all did a great job!
It was a wonderful Mass!
Thank you!
PLEASE
DON’T FORGET OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK SERVICE PROJECT.
THE STUDENTS ARE COLLECTING PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS FOR
ANNA MARIE’S
SHELTER IN ST.
CLOUD.
For
our Powder Ridge Trip on Friday, February 3 please have you
child dressed in layers with hats and gloves/mittens.
Snow pants are a must because then the students will
remain dry even after being in the snow.
Each child will need to bring along either a sack lunch
or money to purchase lunch at the ski lodge.
The prices are “spendy” so I would suggest $6-$7
minimum but no more than $10.
SJSA families are invited to come along.
Cost is $16 for skiing and $10 for tubing.
Please specify that you are with the SJSA tubing/skiing
group.
View
the St. John’s-St. Andrew’s Technology Grant Application
video on Toshiba’s face book page, http://apps.facebook.com/tosh-helping-helpers/contests/160128.
Our
St. John’s
– St. Andrew’s student council did a great job as the
“stars” of the video. We are hoping to get into the
finals. There is 1-$100,000 makeover and 4-$28,000 makeovers.
1st
Reconciliation for the SJSA second graders is Thursday, March
8th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Church.
Please be working with your second grader on memorizing
“The Act of Contrition” Prayer.
The
fifth and sixth graders recently completed a really
extraordinary art project.
They are not something that can go home on the bus or
even in the backpack. If
you get an opportunity, I encourage you to stop at school
anytime during the school day to pick up your child’s art
project and take it home.
St.
Michael’s Spaghetti Supper
Thank
you very much to all the families who supported our spaghetti
supper last weekend. We had a great turnout and were
very happy to see all the support from our SJSA school
families! We also want to thank Susan, Barry, Sandy,
Becky, and DeAnn for helping out with the supper, Jeff &
Wanda Ahrens for donating the lettuce, and Rita Meyer for her
multitude of baked goods. We had a very successful
evening, thanks in part to you!
Thank
you,

Message
from The Catholic Foundation
THANK YOU! These two simple words are not used often
enough to express gratitude to the parents, grandparents,
teachers, staff and all supporters of Catholic education.
During Catholic Schools Week, we want to express our thanks
for the sacrifices you make every day to give children a
Catholic education.
The Catholic Foundation believes more children should
have the chance to attend Catholic Elementary Schools. The
Investing in Faith…For a Hopeful Future initiative was
created to give families in need the means to send their
children to Catholic schools. Generous benefactors have
already stepped forward to create this new fund to benefit
students in our diocese. In order for these efforts to become
fruitful, we are asking for your help.
If you know of anyone who might be willing to learn
more, please invite them to a free Lunch and Learning session
on February 23, 2012 at the
Pastoral
Center
in
St. Cloud
. For more information or to RSVP for the luncheon, please
call Alice Coudron at 320-258-0390.
Parents
are encouraged to get your Steak & Wine dinner tickets
soon! Although you
are working the dinner/auction you have the option to eat
early.
Last
year several parents were very successful in selling Catholic
United Financial raffle tickets after the Masses at St.
Andrew’s,
St. John’s
and St. Michael’s. If
you are interested in selling after Mass/Masses please contact
me at school. I
will make sure there are not too many sellers at any one of
the Masses. I will
have an envelope with cash, extra tickets, pens, CUF fliers,
etc. so you will be ready to sell.
The word is out about the raffle and don’t forget
about the individual, class and school prizes for the
students. We have
extra tickets at the school office.
You may turn in your sold ticket stubs and money to the
school office at any time.
